Well, this was an unexpected dining experience in Jaco, Costa RIca.  I have been in the country for a little over a month, and have sampled much of the local food.  From the motorcycle riding chico with empanadas I now dream about, to my Tico families hearty traditional cuisine, to an array of Costa Rican buffets… I'm trying to get a taste of everything.   However, I had yet to partake in my favorite style of dining, with an exquisite bottle of wine and an assortment of locally grown cuisine meticulously thought out and plated with an artists touch.  Then last night a stop in to Lemon Zest offered a new side of the local style dining that I was craving.

Pastry perfection was delivered to me in this Greenpoint jem!  Cafe Riviera is a flaky buttery heaven bringing pure joy in the form of coissant, danish, cookie & cakes.  Owned by Pastry Chef Margaret Tokarski, this quaint cafe has been the spot to get delectable treats since 1993. Almost impossible to choose from the assortant of tasty treats, we went for a delicious peach tart, a unbelievable apple danish, and I couldn't resist my favorite an eclair stuffed with strawberried and dusted with powdered sugar.  If you find yourself in the area squeeze yourself into a table, get a cup of joe & goodluck trying to decide where to begin.
